Movement is medicine...if done properly

Poetry in motion. A saying I have heard before.
But these days, it has taken on new meaning.
I started weight training in the gym in 2020. The majority of the last 4 years were spent under a barbell, doing traditional lifts like deadlifts, squats and bench press.
And initially I saw great benefit from these lifts in terms of strength and muscle gain. And I do believe there is benefit to that type of training.
However, over the years, I noticed my gains in size coming at the expense of effortless movement and athleticism. I started feeling heavy in my body and slow on my feet.
And what good is muscle if you can’t move with grace and precision?
Since utilizing @functionalpatterns training methodology and focusing on the first principles of human movement (standing, walking, running, & throwing) my mindset has completely changed.
No longer do I train simply to look good in the mirror while striking a static pose. I train for longevity. For vitality. In a way that preserves my joints and brings gains without the pains.
True functional movement brings the fitness industry out of the dark ages and into the future. As a FP human foundations practitioner, it is my duty to bring the best the industry has to offer to my clients.
Train intentionally, not habitually.
